Good to know before signing up:
1. Why are we doing this game jam? Young people today are not as interested in technology and science as in the past. Applications for nature at upper secondary school and engineering at university are decreasing. It could be a better trend for the development of society, and Volvo Group wants to take responsibility for solving this by inspiring young people to choose technology by developing a creative, innovative, and fun game. You have a chance to be the one to solve the problem!
2. Time: Starts 16:00 on Friday, 11 Oct and ends är 16:00 on Monday, 14 Oct (Monday is the only presentation)
3. You will be able to work in a team during the whole weekend
4. It’s free of charge, and you will get a free dinner on Friday
5. On Monday, the game has to be ready, and your team will pitch and present on stage
6. This Game Jam is about creating a game for young people (ages 11-14) and trying to inspire them to increase their interest in technology and science.
Requirements to participate:
1. You are a student (2 – years or more) or alumnus from the University of Skövde
2. You are passionate about developing games
3. You are serious about participating and will complete the whole challenge
Schedule:
Friday, 11 Oct, 16:00 – 23:00
– Presentation from Volvo
– Presentation of the creative process by Drivhuset
– Mentorship with a coach from Science Park Skövde
– Dinner
– Creative process to develop gaming ideas
– Start the development process
Saturday, 12 Oct
– Teams work from home to develop the games
– Teams have support from a mentor from Science Park Skövde
Sunday, 13 Oct
– Teams work from home to develop the games
– Teams have support from a mentor from Science Park Skövde
– Teams will be provided a lesson online in presentation skills and pitch technique
Monday, 14 Oct, 12:00 – 16:00
– Teams will present the game on stage for the jury
– Teams will let young people aged 11-14 try to play the games
